that login announcement yesterday was put up in error according to Martin. It's possible that it's contents were an error as well. Outside of that little blurb we weren't told when it starts.

I guess I didn't realize some people were completely segregating the communities of the guru forums. Seems odd. I was under the impression that we were all one community - with the forums separated only for the purpose of 'cleanliness' - participating in all conversations you're interested in regardless if they concerned GW or GW2.....

They are and they will be. How can you expect everyone to be interested in a different game?

I guess because it's not like comparing Scrabble and Strip Poker. They're both Guild Wars - same lands, creatures, and such only separated by time... and the ravages of time /shrug

There's a huge difference between GW and GW2: GW2 hasn't been released!
There hasn't even been a beta. Therefore, I have zero interest discussing it and don't frequent forums dedicated to it. I'll see it when it arrives.
And while I understand Regina's sentiments about the viral campaign and the discussions springing from that, it doesn't take away from the oddness of having a correction about a login announcement in GW1, concerning GW1, posted in a forum dedicated to GW2.

I think the last few posters have said it for me, but I will agree with them. Guildwars is a game that is CURRENTLY being played, guildwars 2 still has NO release date--hence it is not playable at this time...
I spend my time on the forum of the game that is active not one that is all about what might happen in the future, which is why I was very frustrated that the staff is spending more time for a game that hasnt been released over a game that is still gathering (albeit a small amount) of revenue right now.
I understand about the discussion about the war in kryta taking more hold on a forum that has nothing else to talk about but not why anet didnt also POST THEIR OWN THREAD here....
it is happening IN GUILDWARS right NOW, not in guildwars 2 which has yet to be...
ah heck whatever, I give up.

No one took the bait and wondered whether it meant anything for the game. Not on Guild Wars Guru, at least. The those threads about the viral campaign on Guild Wars Guru were very scarcely posted in, and no one here followed the near-daily updates and clues. The Guild Wars Guru community simply didn't get into it as much as Guild Wars 2 Guru, nor did the folks here appear to have as much fun with the viral campaign as the folks at Guild Wars 2 Guru seemed to. I'm sorry that this forum didn't catch onto the viral campaign as much as Guild Wars 2 Guru. Viral campaigns start with small clues from the company, but it's driven by the players. We went where the active discussion was happening to provide encouragement. If the discussion wasn't happening here, we went where it was happening. It all started here, but Guild Wars 2 Guru took the ball and ran with it.

I very disagree with those intentions. I doubt that moving it to somewere else is a good solution. As mentioned people are not that interested in GWG2 forum because of the game related status. Don't you even agree that it might not just encourage a few people on those forums that take the bait but in a longer run when words spread discourage more people on this forum with the feeling you didn't get it so screw you, while you might have feeded them a bit more hoping they will still get it. Some need more guidance then others. But to neglect those on a forum wich is most connected to the game is never the best solution.

There's a heavy overlap between GW2G and here. You'd recognize a large majority of the posters there. So why can't they be the ones who are "most connected"? Furthermore, the ones on GW2G are more interested in the future of the game, by necessity. If the players looking to the future are there, why shouldn't info and discussion regarding things that relate to the future also occur there? If you care, there's nothing preventing you from joining Guru2. And it takes an extra 30 seconds to check what's going on there.
As for the birthday celebration, I guess I'm still excited about new minis... unfortunately around this time I always get that sinking regret that I'll never be the first one to get the new minis . Darn not starting for 2 years...
Oh, and Cupcakes! Oh man. I've got a mostly free weekend and following week... 1,000 Cupcakes and max sweets, here I come!

guru2 is the kinder, nicer more productive guru only because the game isn't out and people are posting from imaginationland. Wait until GW2 releases and this is the site it will become.

There should be a new elite mission or area for Prophecies based on this new White Mantle/Shining Blade fiasco.

Because I simply don't care about GW2. Besides that I might see the difference in GW1 and GW2 as you might see the difference in GW and WoW. They might be related on some points but there different and therefor should be seperated (atleast thats my opinion). Also I don't think that people who sign up on Guru2 are more interested in the future of Guildwars1 but then again probaly more interested in GW2 then those who stay on this forum. The fact that I already have to find certain updates on a forum and wiki rather then in the game itself or on the official website is wrong in itself. Not that I lack the interest of looking in the forum but to sign up on another one for information about the game, noty.
On the celebration next to an account linked present as stated before with addition of that it is untradable so veterans can show that they are old rots without newcomers buy such status I would more then aything else love to see a whole new mini-game next to dragon arena rolbeetle etc.

As long as Anet will keep pumping out content and is actively 'balancing' GW2, GW2Guru will never become like GWGuru is today.
One can say people on GW2Guru are only speculating or 'posting from imaginationland', but GWGuru is mostly QQ about this or that over- or underpowered build/profession/skill. Simply because there is nothing else to discuss as (until quite recently) the influx of new content has halted.

Found your problem. I hope the clue was not posted there by a Dev, or really anyone, with the expectation that anybody was going to carry that anywhere.- Off-topic is meant for stuff not related to GW, so anything of that nature there is bound to die and get little attention.
- Doesn't show up on the home page of GWGuru as one of the ten most recent created threads. Those threads get lots of attention, and hiding it from that is a great way to get people to not care.
- Guild Wars is a dying game and has a dying community. Guild Wars 2 has a lot of speculation surrounding it and a crowd that thrives on taking the smallest bits of information and blowing them into astronomical ideas. It should be obvious which of the two is going to have a more flourishing response to a viral campaign (not that it shouldn't have been more initially focused here, since this is the game that the update actually applies to).

I think, while disappointing, we should remember the fifth anniversary is also being run coordinately with the guildwars beyond content. While no new 5th year anniversary content was really added (pets aside) this does not mean that new content related to the mantle and blade war is not forthcoming. I would expect more substantial additions on that front at this point...knock on wood.

I take back what I said, something interesting just happened.
Just above the vaettirs, I saw an army of snowmen fight an army of grenches.
Now either I missed an update somewhere, or this is new.
